The player born in 2004 was interviewed Corriere della Sera, Discussing his condition: “I’m learning to understand my new body. I’ve learned how to accept what’s happening to me.”
“I’ve had no problems and I’m happy to be here. Watford is not a second choice but a challenge. It’s a competitive team with a clear goal: to get back to the Premier League. For me, it’s the right place.”
Bovey later explained his reasons: “I’m looking for a team that makes me feel happy and comfortable, and that’s why I chose to come here. The medical and coaching staff, together with us, are doing everything we can to get back on the pitch as soon as possible, although it’s hard to say when. It’s really nice to be part of the team again, getting to know the players and the dressing room. I miss it.”
Bovey concluded by revealing that he and Erickson exchanged several messages: “Yeah, we exchanged a few messages. The defibrillator is a part of me now, even though I didn’t give it a name… It’s like a phone, a little smaller, and it sits between my ribs and my skin. You can feel it, you can see it without my shirt on, but it doesn’t cause me any problems.”

“The first month after the surgery I had to get used to it. I thought having the knee problem would be worse. The diagnosis came out but I preferred to keep it secret. What I was experiencing was a second chance at life, not just football. When you are a football player you never ask yourself why you do this job; as a kid you know you are doing the best thing in the world. When you are forced to live for a while you miss it and you realize this is your real life. I will continue to try to fill my life with things I love to do.”
Finally, about his farewell to Roma: “The farewell was brief because I find it difficult to express in words the thanks they have always shown me. This unbreakable bond is difficult to describe if you don’t know the right words to describe it. Even the first separation when I went to Florence was difficult, but it was a good learning experience because it was the first time away from home.”
“Ending the contract is almost a requirement to return to playing football. It feels great to be back at the Stadio Olimpico to say goodbye to the fans. This connection is always there and will never end.”
