With the Mavericks seemingly losing another late lead, Max Christie drained a pull-up three-pointer.
The shot gave Dallas a brief advantage, but it wasn’t enough as the Trail Blazers beat the Mavericks 125-122 on Monday night.

Christie scored 25 points and hit a team-high five three-pointers. He made three field goals in the fourth quarter to briefly push Dallas ahead after the Mavericks trailed for most of the game. Portland guard Kyler Love scored 24 points, nearly tying Christie’s score.
Naji Marshall missed two open three-pointers and the Mavericks trailed 22-12.
Dallas has now lost seven straight road games. Its last road win came on December 1 against the Denver Nuggets.
Despite the loss, the Mavericks played a league-high 26 clutch games and went 10-16 in those games. Anthony Davis did not play, and Dallas fell to 4-14 without him.

The Mavericks seemed poised to take control of the game, but Portland (13-20) went on a decisive 7-0 run in the fourth quarter to seize a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Dallas will take a few days off before resuming play against the Philadelphia 76ers on January 1.
