Evan Bouchard and Connor McDavid scored for Edmonton. McDavid’s goal brought his scoring streak to 12 games (13 goals, 19 assists), making him the league’s top scorer. Connor Ingram also made 29 saves in the first loss.

With the Flames leading 2-1, Coleman scored on a pass from Mikael Backlund.

McDavid helped the Oilers tie the score at 15:23. In the last minute, Bouchard’s fierce shot was pulled out by the goalkeeper and hit the post.

Edmonton entered the game shooting a league-best 10-for-20 from the field through its first five games and converted the game’s first-man advantage when Leon Draisaitl extended his scoring streak to six games (three goals, 10 assists) by assisting Bouchard. However, Calgary had a chance to equalize the score in the second quarter, killing the youngster consecutively to maintain a 2-1 lead.

With the game tied at 1-1 after 20 minutes, McDavid had a great chance to put Edmonton ahead, but his shot hit the crossbar during a two-on-one with Vasily Podkolzin. Two minutes later, Lomborg took advantage of Alec Regula’s error in his own end and quickly fired the ball into the top corner to give the Flames the lead.

The Oilers are 3-13-3 in games allowing the first goal.
