Bill O’Reilly Names 8 States in ‘Open Rebellion’ Against the Federal Government: ‘What You Had Before the Civil War’

Bill O’Reilly says at least eight states in the United States are “openly in rebellion” against the U.S. federal government, and possibly two more – the same situation brewing on the eve of the Civil War.

“What does this mean?” said the “No Spin News” host and best-selling historical author. “It means they refuse to obey the law. It’s an insurrection. It’s the sanctuary city movement, but it’s more than that.”

O’Reilly first pointed to Minnesota, which has been in turmoil over the ICE shooting of Renee Goode and which recently hosted massive demonstrations against federal agencies enforcing immigration laws.

“There’s nothing wrong with people protesting,” he said. “This is what we do in America when we think there’s a problem. But this protest was started by a far-left group called the Minnesota Immigrant Rights and Action Committee. It was an ideological protest, not an organic protest.”

O’Reilly noted that although “federal agents were not present,” 29 people were arrested for throwing objects at local police and other assaults. He called the real part of the broader open borders movement a direct defiance of U.S. law — “but they were never honest.”

“Right now, the eight states in open rebellion are California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Minnesota, Illinois, Massachusetts and New Jersey,” O’Reilly said. “New York and Vermont are right on the edge. I didn’t include them because there are at least some conversations going on with Washington, but you could put them on the list.”

But what it boils down to is that 10 states “essentially told the federal government, ‘We won’t abide by your laws’ — and that was before the Civil War. It’s the exact same thing. From 1830 to 1860, the Southern states said, ‘We won’t abide by anything you say.'” It wasn’t just about slavery. This has to do with tariffs and just about everything else. “

At the time, President Andrew Jackson quelled the riots, but then “we had a series of weak presidents like Franklin Pierce and James Buchanan who allowed the South to rise violently. And then we had the Civil War. It was a rebellion against the federal government,” O’Reilly said.

O’Reilly said something similar happened during the Vietnam War, but “it was a populist uprising. It started as an ideological issue, but then the war spiraled out of control because of Lyndon Johnson’s incompetence and deception. The American people crossed almost every barrier and said ‘enough is enough.'” Demonstrations occurred. Violence occurred. Kent State. National Guard. Lots of places. “

O’Reilly noted that the current government has an obligation to enforce the law, but it also has an obligation to de-escalate violent confrontations.

“If an ICE agent discovers that someone is using a vehicle to impede an investigation, it will be de-escalated,” he said. “You arrest that person later. They could have easily done that. You don’t escalate because if more violence happens, the Trump administration will lose the country.”
