Bill Belichick did not participate in the College Football Playoff this season after a disappointing 4-8 record in his first season as North Carolina’s head coach. However, he will appear as the announcer for Monday’s CFP National Championship Game.
ESPN announced Friday that Belichick will be part of ACC Network’s coverage of the game between No. 10 Miami and No. 1 Indiana, contributing to the network’s “ACC Huddle” studio show before the national championship telecast and its “Field Pass with ACC Huddle” on the sideline during the game.

According to ESPN, Belichick will provide his analysis on “championship preparation, game strategy and playoff success.” He will be joined by ACC Network anchors Taylor Tannenbaum and Kelsey Riggs Cuff, analysts Eric Mac Lain, Eddie Royal and Tom Luginbill, as well as former Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher and former Miami coach (and quarterback) Mark Richt.
Belichick and his Tar Heels did not play against Miami last season. UNC finished 2-6 in ACC play, tied with FSU and Virginia Tech for 13th in the conference.
Miami finished second in the divisional round, tied with four other teams at 6-2, but earned a College Football Playoff berth. Virginia went 7-1 in the regular season but lost to Duke in the ACC Championship Game. The Blue Devils’ victory indirectly helped Miami defeat Notre Dame to advance to the CFP.
