Not everything went according to plan this year, but the Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball program entered the Big Ten Tournament as a fifth seed.
Head coach Greg Gard has been a huge part of their success as many thought it would be very difficult to succeed with John Tonje gone.

Thankfully, Badgers assistant coach Sharif Chambliss has been a pillar of strength for the team. Chambliss deserves far more than what he’s getting, and he just received the honor from this conference. Chambliss was named the 2026 Howard Moore Assistant Coach of the Year. Chambliss has coached at three Wisconsin schools, including UW-Platteville and UW-Milwaukee.
The Wisconsin native was named the Horizon League’s No. 1 assistant coach in 2020. This is his 16th season of coaching and, notably, he also served as Wisconsin’s video coordinator under Bo Ryan.
The conference highlighted Wisconsin’s 11.6 three-point field goal percentage per game, which ranked them sixth nationally. Chambliss also helped them to not one, not two, but three road wins this season against AP Top 15 opponents.
