Before joining the Eagles, Saquon Barkley used to hate head coach Nick Sirianni: ‘I couldn’t stand that motherf*****’

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley once had very strong feelings for Nick Sirianni.

They’re not great.

“I can’t stand that motherfucker. I can’t stand it,” Barkley said Wednesday.

But as Barkley nears the end of his second full season with Sirianni, his feelings have completely changed. He understands now.

“I’m not a fan of his. To be here now and see how obsessed he is with Hard Knocks and what we’re doing behind the scenes, you can see under his direction, it doesn’t really do it justice enough,” he said, via ABC6’s Jason Dumas. He’s so obsessed with the little things and that’s why this team is super successful.

“It was really cool to be able to get away from him and go against him and not be a fan of him and get to know what he’s all about. I think he’s done a really good job. He’s the perfect coach in Philadelphia.”

Sirianni led the Eagles to their first Super Bowl win since 2017 last season and will be in his fifth year leading the team this fall. He’s won double-digit games in all but one of his seasons leading the team, and he’s now led the team to two Super Bowls.

Barkley, who led the league in rushing last season, will enter Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills with 1,072 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. The Eagles have won two straight games in New York’s Orchard Park and maintain a 10-5 record. They’ve clinched a playoff spot and a second straight NFC East title.

This game means even more to the Bills when it comes to the playoffs. Buffalo trails the New England Patriots in the AFC East race and must win to have a chance to win the division title — a title they haven’t lost since 2019.

While the Eagles are not as dominant offensively this season as they were last year, Sirianni and Barkley have the team ready to defend their Super Bowl title. Apparently, Barkley’s initial reading of his head coach was wrong.
