Bayern Munich hoping to develop new youth academy in California

Bayern Munich is planning to open a new academy in California, USA, according to Bild reporter Toby Altschafer.

The Bavarian club intends to permanently lease space at the Chula Vista Elite Athletes Training Center and build its own campus there.

It is believed that this particular campus, if it becomes a reality, will be designed specifically for U-15 and U-17 players.

With players in this age group not allowed to travel to Germany, the new academy will give Bayern earlier access to American talent.

Additionally, the campus is being developed to strengthen the Bundesliga side’s ties with Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC.

Bayern established a strategic partnership with Los Angeles Football Club in March 2023, creating a joint venture called “Red Gold Football” in Munich.

The 50/50 partnership aims to develop young talent, provide career pathways and expand international scouting in California.
