Here is the club’s official statement:

“First-team player Aitana Bonmati has successfully undergone surgery for a perforating ligament fracture of her left fibula. The operation was performed by Dr. Anthony Dalmao at Barcelona Hospital under the supervision of the club’s medical services. The expected recovery time is approximately five months.”

The news means Aitana will not return until early May 2026, which is a huge blow for Barcelona and Spain.

The national team have vowed to try to win the Nations League title for Aitana and play Germany in the second leg later today, after the first leg ended goalless.

Get well soon, Aitana!
