NEW YORK (AP) — Azzi Fudd scored 14 points and Allie Ziebell added 13 to help No. 1 UConn extend its 47th straight victory with an 85-49 victory over St. John’s at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night.
The Huskies tied the fifth-longest winning streak in women’s Division I history, tying UConn’s streak from 2013-15.

UConn (31-0, 20-0 Big East) is coming off another undefeated regular season and is now gearing up for another Big East championship. The Huskies’ average margin of victory is nearly 38 points, the third-largest margin in Division I history — trailing only two other Huskies teams.
The team won by 40.6 points in the 2014-15 season, and the team won by an average margin of 39.7 points in the 2015-16 season.
This is the first time the St. John’s women’s team will play independently at the famed Midtown Manhattan Arena. The Red Storm compete in doubles with the men’s team, and they have also participated in the Maggie Dixon Classic for a few years.
The game attracted 9,612 fans, most of whom were rooting for the Huskies. UConn led 24-9 after the first quarter behind Sarah Strong, Forde and Sierra Williams. The Huskies led 43-20 at halftime.

Jailah Donald scored eight points to lead St. John’s (21-10, 11-9). The Red Storm are tied for fourth in conference play with Marquette and Creighton, but will be the sixth seed in the tournament.
