Alex Golesh and the Auburn football coaching staff are well-positioned to make their first splash in high school recruiting.
Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong and Greg Smith revealed a prediction Monday that favors Auburn landing a commitment from top-five quarterback Israel Abrams in the 2027 recruiting class. Abrams, a four-star quarterback from Lombard, Ill., is the No. 3 quarterback this cycle and the highest-ranked No. 2 player at his position.

In a recent interview with Opponent, Abrams said he has developed a relationship with Auburn offensive coordinator Joel Gordon and assistant quarterbacks coach Hayden Kingston and thinks Golesh is “the kind of guy I want to be coached by.” Wiltvon expected Abrams to commit to Iowa State before former head coach Matt Campbell left for Penn State. Now that the predictions have swung in Auburn’s favor, the Tigers must fend off strong calls from Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida and Iowa before signing day in December.
Auburn has the No. 51 recruiting class, according to 247Sports, and one of its three-star tight ends, Trae “Tank” Proctor, has been committed. The addition of Abrams would be a big step forward in Gorsh’s recruiting efforts and could lead to more quality recruits signing with the Tigers before the cycle is over.
