Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is a true success for Ubisoft. The action-adventure game has been the best-selling game in the United States in the three weeks since its launch, according to new data from market research firm Circana. While Ubisoft has yet to reveal sales figures for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the company has confirmed that the game is the series’ second-biggest launch.
‘Assassin’s Creed’ U.S. sales decline
According to Circana’s latest sales data as of April 5, “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows” has been the best-selling game in the United States in its first three weeks of release. The update was shared on Bluesky on Monday by Circana’s Mat Piscatella, who also confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the second-best-selling game of 2025 in the U.S. so far, behind Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wild on the sales chart.
It’s an interesting game… According to Circana’s retail tracking service (dollar sales, latest data as of April 5), Assassin’s Creed: Shadows was the best-selling video game in the United States during its first three weeks of release. It currently ranks second so far this year, behind Monster Hunter Wild.

While Ubisoft doesn’t reveal sales figures, Circana’s figures suggest the game is a hit for the French company. According to Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows has more than 3 million players. The action-adventure game also achieved the second-highest first-day sales in the history of the Assassin’s Creed series, making it the second-largest launch in the series’ history, behind only 2020’s Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Ubisoft also confirmed last month that Shadow was the company’s best first-day release on the PlayStation Store.

According to the SteamDB chart, this Japanese-set action role-playing game has reached an all-time high of 64,825 concurrent players on Steam. In addition to being available on PC via Ubisoft Connect and on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, Shadow is also available on Steam.
Ubisoft has been banking on the success of this game after a series of failed AAA game releases, causing the company’s stock price to drop 40% in 2024. Last month, the company announced a new dedicated subsidiary for its core IPs Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six. The subsidiary has received a €1.16 billion (approximately Rs. 10,694 crore) investment from Chinese conglomerate Tencent, which holds a minority stake in the new entity.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows releases on March 20 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. The game is set in Japan in the 16th century and tells the story of the two protagonists-the ninja Naoe and the samurai Yasuke.
