NASA is scheduled to launch its historic Artemis 2 lunar mission on Wednesday, April 1, from the Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island in Cape Canaveral, Florida. This is the first moon landing since the Apollo missions in 1972, so what comes next is exciting.
Of course, mother nature could throw a wrench in the plans, but NASA has a backup.
While the initial two-hour launch window opens at 6:24 p.m. ET, NASA has also set aside April 2-6 and April 30 for launches.
However, there is some good news for those hoping to witness the launch on Wednesday night

Artemis 2 Weather Outlook
Currently, there is no indication that the weather will affect the scheduled launch missions at the 39B launch site.
The situation could change in the coming hours, but NASA currently projects an 80% chance of favorable launch conditions. If all goes according to plan, the 10-day mission around the moon will end that day.

Meet the Artemis 2 Crew
The four-person team is part of a historic grouping that includes Christina Koch of Grand Rapids, Michigan (holding multiple NASA records), Victor Glover of California (on a SpaceX mission in 2020), Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen (first trip into space), and Baltimore native Reed Wiseman (last flight into space in 2014).
Artemis 2 will send the first woman (Koch), the first black man (Glover) and the first Canadian (Hanson) to orbit the moon.
