Manning scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood had two interceptions in the fourth quarter to help No. 13 Texas beat the No. 18 Wolverines 41-27.

Texas put the game away with just over five minutes left in the game. Ty’Anthony Smith intercepted Underwood and returned the ball to the Michigan 45-yard line. After a penalty brought Texas within 40 yards, Manning rushed 60 yards for a touchdown on the Longhorns’ first possession to extend the lead to 11 points.

This isn’t the first time Manning has played a crucial role in the Texans offense in the fourth quarter. Underwood’s 5-yard touchdown run gave the Wolverines a 27-24 lead with 10:56 left, but Texas responded with a 75-yard drive on nine carries, capped by Manning’s 30-yard touchdown pass to Kaliq Lockett.

Four plays before the touchdown pass, Manning ran for 15 yards on fourth down. The play was preceded by an eight-yard run on third down.

Manning finished the game with 155 yards rushing and two scores on just nine carries. He also completed 21 of 34 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns.

After Manning’s second rushing touchdown, Michigan had a chance to stay within striking distance. But Underwood was picked off by Smith on Michigan’s second possession of the ensuing possession. Any hope of a comeback was dashed.

Underwood showed plenty of promise in the first half, with new Michigan coach Kyle Whittingham watching from his suite. But he was intercepted three times on four possessions in the second half, and his and Michigan’s day was unraveled.
