With the launch of many new products, apple decided to add a new set of iPhone and other devices added to list of “old and obsolete” products. As a result, users of the included gadgets will no longer be able to request hardware repair or parts support from the company’s authorized service providers. But which devices does Apple choose to add to the obsolete list?
Apple releases list of now “obsolete” devices
According to Apple’s latest update, the tech giant has moved as many as four series of products to its Retro Series, confirming that the company will no longer provide official hardware services for the devices within it.
According to an updated list of “obsolete and obsolete”, the first product the Tim Cook-led conglomerate considers obsolete is the first-generation iPhone SE. Apple launched models with 16GB and 64GB storage options in 2016 before ultimately deciding to discontinue production in 2018.
Furthermore, the phone was quickly replaced by its direct successor, the second-generation SE. With the first-generation SE model appearing on Apple’s vintage list, users still using problematic iPhones will have to turn to independent third-party stores to resolve their repair issues.
According to the latest update, another classic Apple product that has been added to the company’s obsolete list is the 2017 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Additionally, Apple Watch Series 4 Nike and Hermes versions also appear on the obsolete list.
These models entered the market in 2018 and didn’t last long in the sun before Apple decided to discontinue them in 2019. Nonetheless, the few users who obtain said watches can opt for hardware servicing, provided the required parts and materials are still available.
The last Apple product to make the “obsolete” list was the Beats Pill 2.0 speaker, which launched in 2013. With the move, the California-based company officially withdraws repair support for the speaker.
