Apple (AAPL) Getting ready for an eventful spring. It’s the kind of “quiet and big” setup that AAPL stock investors love.
It plans multiple launches. One big narrative will dominate. The scoreboard couldn’t be clearer.
For me, the story unfolded with Apple’s latest earnings report. CEO Tim Cook described the December quarter as ” “Extraordinary, record-breaking quarter.”
Apple reports $143.8 billion revenue and said its installed base ranks among the top 2.5 billion active devices. This scale makes even a “boring” refresh an important event in the ecosystem.
But the scoreboard started to change. Cook said on the earnings call that Apple continues to see “significant increases in market pricing for memory.”
The comments suggest Apple is issuing a reminder that in the coming quarters it may focus less on demand and more on protecting its profit margins.
I’m sure you’ve seen examples of this at home: Some people want to keep using their old, perfectly functional iPhone. The most common reason, at least in my experience, is that new ones are too expensive.
Today, the most famous iPhone users are Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Tim Cook and Mark Zuckerberg. I’m sure their wallets won’t get any lighter with the latest version of the iPhone.
However, Apple’s goal this time is to prioritize the needs of ordinary users. That’s why in the next wave, it wants to make its products more affordable and focus on profit growth to expand its channels.
The launch of iPhone 17e That’s imminent, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

Apple is not traditional when it comes to revenue guidance.
Here are two simple ways for investors to plan for the coming quarter.
-
Rough range (year-over-year growth from last March quarter): Apple did it $95.4B Fiscal second quarter 2025 earnings. If Apple prints +10% to +12% Year-over-year (roughly in line with many sellers’ expectations), this means approx. US$104.9 billion to US$106.8 billion March quarter of this year.
-
“Street” snapshot (consensus-based framework): FactSet estimates cited by Investor’s Business Daily put the March quarter at about Revenue $104.9 billion and Earnings per share $1.84.
However, there is a marginal factor. Apple expects gross margins in the current quarter to be 48% to 49%; Cook flagged memory spending as a growing headwind beyond the second quarter.
