Anthony Hernandez is certain his loss to Sean Strickland at UFC Fight Night 267 will serve as a key learning point in his career development.
Hernandez (15-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC)’s eight-fight winning streak came to an end on Saturday when Strickland (30-7 MMA, 17-7 UFC) knocked him out in the third round at Toyota Center in Houston. “Fluffy” was a betting favorite for the headlines but failed to live up to expectations.

After the defeat, he made no excuses, either inside the Octagon or on social media.
“I think everything is going great,” Hernandez told Michael Bisping in an in-cage interview. “I thought it might be 1-1. Then I got sloppy and got kneed in the middle. It doesn’t matter. I’m going to get back to the drawing board and I’m going to get better. You’ve seen what happened the last time I lost. I’ve made a lot of progress. Now it’s time to get back to work.”
The 32-year-old Hernandez was considered a favorite to capture the middleweight title during his winning streak. The loss marked a setback, but it’s clear Hernandez remains confident in his ability to grow and get better.
