Etihad: N’Golo Kante refuses to play after Karim Benzema
Tensions are running high at the Etihad Stadium just hours after Karim Benzema’s departure. N’Golo Kante has also decided not to play.
Al-Ittihad’s plans to transfer N’Golo Kante to Fenerbahce have been scrapped due to errors made by the Saudi club in finalizing the deal with FIFA. In response, Turkey have appealed to the world governing body in the hope that the deal will be approved – a move that would also see striker Youssef En-Nesyri move in the opposite direction.
But while waiting for a possible solution, N’Golo Kante has made a bold decision, L’Equipe reported on Tuesday. The French midfielder has refused to play for the Etihad until further notice. Unsurprisingly, Kante is contracted until next June and is looking to put pressure on the club to prompt a move to Fenerbahce.
In Türkiye, the transfer window remains open until Friday.
