Fresh off an impressive double at the opening weekend of the 2026 ADA Tour in Western Australia, Brody Klinge wasted no time in returning to the winner’s circle to kick things off in Canberra with another authoritative and commanding performance.

The Melbourne hurler quickly completed an impressive seasonal hat-trick with a composed 6-2 win over Darren Penhall to claim fifth event honors. Klinger appeared calm and carefree for much of the fight, smoothing through the early rounds with a confident composure and clinical efficiency that would soon become his trademark. The Australian star faced no real resistance until the semi-final stage, knocking out Jeremy Fague in a tense and dramatic final leg decider. After successfully passing a rigorous test, the Victorian player (referring to his state of origin, not age) easily surpassed the British-born Penhall in the final to add a third trophy to what has become a thriving seasonal series.

For a time, it looked like fellow Australian Raymond Smith, who also left Mandurah with two titles under his belt, would be the man to face Klinger in this exhibition match. However, Darren Penhall stepped in in rather spectacular fashion, eliminating Guru in the semi-finals before ultimately losing to the red-hot Melbourne Ace in the main event.

However, players like Raymond Smith are rarely silenced for long. The veteran Brisbane arrowsmith made a strong comeback to claim the first of two scheduled games on Saturday, continuing what has quickly become the dominant narrative for Clinger-Smith this season. In a role reversal from the previous game, Smith defeated James Bailey, who was responsible for eliminating Klinger, in the semifinals to win his third ADA Tour title of the year.

However, the journey to the trophy was far from smooth. Smith survived two tense decider rounds, first defeating Jamie Rundle in the quarter-finals and then Darren Penhall in the last four. Heading into the final, the Brisbane hurler added another accolade to his ever-expanding resume with a composed performance to beat Bailey.

The seventh incident then brings a welcome twist to the weekend’s story. For the first time in the Canberra program, the trophy did not fall into the hands of Brodie Klinger or Raymond Smith. Instead, Darren Penhall, who had been knocking on the door throughout the event, finally forced the door open.

To make the moment even sweeter, the Australian from Cornwall defeated Raymond Smith in the final, ending what quickly became a two-man monopoly. The man who most upsets the 53-year-old St Austell native is Robbie King, who has won three of their last 16 meetings. Since then, Penhall has built irresistible momentum, leapfrogging Tim Pusey and Matt Dorotic, ensuring a new name will be etched on the 2026 ADA Tour Honor Roll.

Finally, in an effort to restore a sense of balance to the darts universe – or at least restore balance to Australia – Brodie Klinger and Raymond Smith both reached the finals in the final game of the Canberra Four. Klinger went home with the honor of being one-half of this season’s ADA champions after a great showdown with his compatriot on Sunday.

Oddly enough, the format for the final was changed to a set-piece, with Victoria ultimately beating the man from Queensland in an entertaining match after both sides locked up a set. Eight games into the season and what’s on the scoreboard is pretty interesting: four wins for Melbourne, three for Brisbane and one belonging to a Cornishman whose pedigree won’t be on any Australian maps – but the talented Darren Penhall is certainly making his presence felt.
