Tom Blomqvist set the fastest overall time in the opening practice for the Rolex 24 with Acura Meyer Shank Racing and Curb Agajanian.
With less than 25 minutes left in the 90-minute race, the 32-year-old Blomqvist jumped to the top of the speed chart with a lap of 1 minute, 35.415 seconds around Daytona’s 3.56-mile speedway in the No. 60 Acura ARX-06.

Porsche Penske Motorsport’s Kevin Estre set a lap time of 1:35.520 in the No. 6 Porsche 963 and held the top spot until Blomqvist’s flyer knocked him into second place. Felipe Nasr placed the Porsche Penske Motorsport sister car number 7 in third place with a time of 1 minute 35.534 seconds.
There was some drama in the GTP class, with BMW M Team WRT’s No. 25 competitor completing just five laps of the race. In an interview with IMSA Radio, Kevin Magnussen mentioned that it was “a mixed question”. Motorsport.com understands the team will be replacing the batteries as a result.

Valentin Hasse Clot’s fast early laps were enough to secure first place in the GTD class and 24th overall. He set a time of 1 minute 46.325 seconds in van der Steur Racing’s No. 19 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO before handing the race over to Carl Bennett.
The fastest player in the GTD Pro class was Triarsi Competizione’s Alessio Rovera, who set a best lap time of 1 minute 46.348 seconds in the No. 033 Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO.
The LMP2 class was led by Nick Cassidy in International Europol Competition No. 343 ORECA LMP2 07, setting a fast lap time of 1 minute 39.764 seconds.
