In the blink of an eye, the 2025 season for the Oregon Ducks is over. The show ended in disappointing fashion for the second consecutive season, having received rave reviews from a national audience.
But in college football, time keeps ticking. Head coach Dan Lanning and his staff must immediately begin preparations for the 2026 season, and other programs have taken a head start in transfer portal recruiting.

As part of preparations for next season, we take a look at the early-season schedule and Big Ten opponents that have been released.
The Ducks’ 2026 campaign opens at home against the first-time PAC-12 contender Boise State Broncos. The last time these two teams met was in the second week of the 2024 season, when Boise State pushed Oregon to the brink and forced the Ducks to take a game-winning field goal to defeat the unranked Broncos.
Oregon State then travels to Stillwater to face the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the second part of the Cowboys’ home-and-home series at Otterson Stadium in Week 2 of the 2025 season. In that game, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy pointed to Oregon State’s zero budget, which resulted in a 69-3 defeat.
But the Cowboys will look much different in 2026, as they hired North Texas’ Eric Morris as a new head coach and brought in some key contributors from a Mean Green team that went 12-2 in the AAC, including quarterback Drew Mestemaker, the nation’s leading pass rusher.

Next week will be Oregon State’s final non-conference game of the regular season as they take on the in-state Portland State Vikings at Otteson Stadium. The last time these two teams met was in 2023, also in Eugene, with the Ducks winning 81-7.
While the exact date and time for the game has yet to be announced, the road to conference play won’t be easy for the Ducks.
