Toyota and Suzuki Reportedly Collaborate to Launch a Compact EV in 2025

Japanese automakers Toyota and Suzuki are reportedly collaborating to launch a new compact electric vehicle (EV) that is expected to hit global markets next year. Two Japanese auto giants have signed an agreement to share technology and models globally. Codenamed “bZ” (Beyond Zero), the crossover is known as a compact version of Toyota’s bZ4X and is already on sale in international markets.

Suzuki and Toyota aim to form a partnership to jointly develop compact cars. Their collaboration resulted in a successful model that is sold in the Indian and European markets.
The partnership is part of Toyota’s efforts to improve its electric vehicle lineup. The company has been working to improve and expand its catalog of electric vehicles. When launched, the bZ will be Toyota’s most budget-friendly electric car yet as it attempts to attract a large number of customers, especially in markets that favor electric vehicles.

Expected features and specs of upcoming electric cars

Toyota’s e-TNGA platform will become the cornerstone of bZ. Therefore, a strong performance and efficiency foundation is guaranteed. Notably, the Japanese automaker is also developing a new SUV. This will be available in a lower price range than the Fortuner and will share its platform with bZ.

When fully charged, the Bz’s cruising range is expected to be more than 300 kilometers. This will make it suitable for commuting on city roads. The overall length is expected to be 3700mm, the width is 1700mm and the height is 1530mm. The wheelbase is expected to be around 2450mm. The electric car has power outputs of approximately 118bhp and 294Nm, making it an ideal and efficient choice for city driving.

This can be seen as a great initiative between the two companies as both Toyota and Suzuki have a considerable market share in the automobile market. The partnership will particularly help Toyota, which has been hesitant to enter the electric vehicle market, attract consumers’ attention in global markets.
The partnership will bring a direct rival to the Tata Punch EV and the upcoming Hyundai Inster.
