The video, which has since gone viral, shows Foxx having a heated conversation with someone off-camera. The man tried to get Fox to move his campaign tent. The argument continued to get heated and Foxx appeared to lunge at the man off camera, but he was stopped by campaign staff.

Fox later told reporters what happened during the incident, which could be misinterpreted from the video.

“There was no context for that in that video,” Fox told reporters the next day, according to Us Weekly . “But I will tell you, this time of year, some people are used to bullying. We’re not going to stand for that. We’re not going to stand for that.”

He continued, “If you’re going to swear and threaten people’s lives and say you’re going to go to the car to get something, then I’m going to react. Frankly, I’m going to defend my team, I’m going to defend myself, I’m going to defend anybody in the area because that’s a dangerous situation.”

Fox claims law enforcement was called and the man has been charged. He added that he was defending himself and that his life, as well as that of his staff, was “at risk”.

“The ruling opposition party is notorious for victimizing and bullying Bahamians,” he said. “But I kept resisting them.”

“I stood up to bullies, no different than my basketball career as an enforcer,” he said. “If someone threatens a teammate’s life or threatens my life, I will defend to the death if necessary.”

Fox was born in Toronto and moved to the Bahamas as a child. He is currently a political candidate for the Bahamas House of Representatives in 2026.
