After allowing three runs in the first two innings, Colorado shut down the most productive offense in the majors with 3 1/3 scoreless innings in the bullpen. Victor Wodnik gave up a two-run single in the ninth, but Kyle Tucker jumped to left field to end the game and Wodnik earned his third save of the season.

Brennan Bernardino (2-0) earned the win for the Rockies. Will Klein (1-1) took the loss when he gave up Johnston’s double in the sixth inning.

TJ Rumfield and Kyle Karros each scored one run in Colorado’s victory.

Ohtani was within the same two-mile radius of Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi and Denver’s Nikola Jokic that afternoon in Denver, and the Dodgers’ two-way star extended his hitting streak to 50 games with a ninth-inning single. That tied Hall of Famer Willie Keeler for the franchise’s third-longest streak dating to 1900. Ohtani had reached base twice earlier in the game, both times on errors.
