How to Set a Custom Name and Profile Photo With iMessage on iPhone and iPad

Many of the world’s most popular messaging apps, such as WhatsApp, allow people to set their display name and profile picture. This feature has been missing on iMessage until the arrival of iOS 13. If you’re missing this feature on iMessage, you have the opportunity to set a custom name and profile photo. Not only does the latest iOS version allow you to set a custom name, you can now set a profile photo directly from your photo library and even use a custom Memoji or Animoji if you’re into that.

How to set a name and profile photo on iMessage

Note that after updating your iPhone to iOS 13 and opening the Messages app, you will automatically see a pop-up screen to set your name and profile photo. You can do this by following the on-screen prompts.

If you skipped this step, follow these steps

1. open message application and click three points icon at the top. Click now Edit name and photo.
2. On an iPhone that supports Memoji, you can create it now. You can skip this step and on the next screen, the first thing you can do is set your profile photo. To do this, click Choose name and photo When setting up for the first time. If you have already set it up once, continue to the next step.
3. Now you can select photos from gallery by clicking on All photos Or you can click camera icon to click the selfie. You can even choose between Animoji or Memoji. After making your selection, click complete.
4. Now you will see a pop-up window asking you if you want to use that particular photo in My Card in your Apple ID and Contacts. You can accept it by clicking use Or you can ignore it by clicking not now.
5. After setting up your profile photo, you can enter your first and last name. This is obviously not have Become your real name, so if you’ve always wanted to be called Darth Vader on iMessage, you know what to do.
6. Additionally, you can choose who to share your profile name and photo with. There are two options here – Contacts only and always ask. The latter is better for privacy.
