DES MOINES, Iowa — As predicted, temperatures have been dropping in Des Moines starting around 7 a.m. and snow and wind are spreading eastward across the state. By late afternoon, the storm will continue into the early morning hours. Again, heavy snow is not a requirement for a blizzard. These events are related to wind and visibility.
