Trump voters have plenty of repenting to do this Lent

Notes to the Editor:Thank you to columnist Gustavo Arellano for reminding many Christians and Catholics of the importance of repentance during Lent (“This Lent, may Christians repent for Trump and the warmongers he has unleashed,” March 6). Painfully, many Christians support those who cut food programs for children and the elderly, groups who face severe food insecurity. Should these believers repent for continuing to praise those who cut health benefits for millions of Americans suffering from serious illnesses?

Many Christians and Catholics must ask themselves, does their religious education advocate the separation of children from their parents? Let’s not forget that legions of religious people ignored a man’s bragging that he could violate women’s bodies at will, and later it was the same man found responsible Sexually abusing a woman and defaming her. A man was found guilty 34 counts of felony fraud He allegedly had sex with an adult film star while they were married.

What is even more disgusting is that priests and priests still support and endorse those who commit the above acts. It is even more shameful to encourage church members and parishioners to continue to support those who have and will continue to violate the principles of their religion. It’s too late to revoke your vote for someone, but it’s not too late to repent during Lent for your continued support of that man named Donald J. Trump.
