Sepulveda Pass lane closures March 16 to 23

Introduction

  • Caltrans will close nighttime lanes and ramps on the 405 Freeway through Sepulveda Pass starting March 16 for K-rail installation and electrical work.

  • Work will start after 9pm on Monday and end at 6am each morning.

  • The $143.7 million project is designed to improve safety and extend pavement life between Van Nuys and Westwood.

Los AngelesTravelers using the 405 Freeway through Sepulveda Pass should prepare for possible significant delays next week as Caltrans plans to modernize aging infrastructure between Westwood and Van Nuys with plans to reduce nighttime lanes and close ramps.

The following closures will continue:

Monday 16 March 9pm to 6am to Friday 20 March

  • Up to two lanes of I-405 northbound between Wilshire Boulevard and Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive

  • Up to two lanes of I-405 northbound between Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive and Sepulveda Boulevard

  • Northbound I-405 off-ramp to Getty Center Drive closed

  • Up to two lanes of I-405 southbound between Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive and Wilshire Boulevard

  • Interstate 405 southbound has a maximum of two lanes between US 101 and Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive

Friday, March 20, 10pm to Monday, March 23, 5am

  • I-405 northbound: reduced to three lanes south of Getty Center Drive/Sepulveda Blvd. Exit ramp to Bel Air Crest Road north

  • I-405 northbound: Getty Center Drive on- and off-ramps closed

  • Southbound I-405: Reduced to three lanes between the Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive on-ramp to Getty Center Drive/Sepulveda Blvd. onramp

The work is part of the $143.7 million I-405 pavement rehabilitation project. The project is designed to improve safety and mobility along Route 405 between Van Nuys and Westwood and extend the life of the sidewalk.

Weekend lane reductions are expected every two weeks on various sections of the 405 Freeway.

Approximately 25 such lanes are expected to be closed and reduced while the project continues.
