The Southern California women’s basketball team received good news about one of its stars ahead of the women’s NCAA tournament.
The Trojans announced in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, March 11, that freshman guard Jazzy Davidson “will compete in the NCAA Tournament after being injured during the Big Ten Tournament.”

Davidson was injured five minutes into USC’s Big Ten Championship game against Washington on March 5 when she was hit in front of the Trojans’ bench while running in transition out of the backcourt. She quickly grabbed her shoulders and looked in pain as she was attended to by USC training staff.
As Davidson held her right arm and headed to the locker room, officials reviewed the play and found the contact was accidental. Davidson returned to the game with just a minute on the clock. However, she made just 2 of 13 shots and finished with 8 points. She is often seen shaking her right arm after being shot.
Davidson came off the bench with seven minutes left in the fourth quarter and never returned. After the game, coach Lindsay Gottlieb expressed optimism about Davidson’s return to the NCAA tournament.
“She was pretty devastated,” Gottlieb said. “She’s a very strong kid. She wants to get through it. But I just check in with her to make sure nothing’s getting worse and try to calm her down sometimes. She plays hard and wants to win.”

As a freshman for the Trojans, Davidson averaged 17.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals per game.
