Manchester United put Guimarães on target list to play in England

United appear to have narrowed their search to the Premier League, with Guimarães joining the likes of Adam Walton, Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson and club teammate Sandro Tonali.

Each player’s club will be desperate to keep hold of them in the summer, especially given that selling players will directly improve United’s squad for the 2026/2027 season.

For Newcastle in particular, losing their beloved and fans-favorite captain to a club like Manchester United is unthinkable.

However, contract negotiations with Guimarães have hit a snag in recent weeks, despite the Magpies board’s best efforts to secure a new deal.

He remains linked with St James’ Park until 2028 but, again, the club are desperate to avoid losing him for nothing.

The 28-year-old has been on the international stage alongside Casemiro on a number of occasions and may start to consider his future elsewhere if Eddie Howe’s side look set to miss out on the Champions League next season.
