Netflix, one of the most popular streaming services in the world, has revealed some sad news.
On Monday, many people noticed that Netflix had stopped serving those streaming the service on PlayStation 3. Affected users should receive a notification on their device that reads: “Unfortunately, Netflix will no longer be available on this device after March 2, 2026. Please visit netflix.com/compatibledevices to see a list of supported devices.”
According to multiple sources, approximately 87 million users will lose access to Netflix. However, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 still support Netflix, allowing users to stream content by downloading the app from the TV and Videos section of the console.

When Netflix and Sony signed a deal 17 years ago to allow PS3 owners to stream movies and TV shows on their consoles, users had to request a Blu-ray disc to access the service due to the company’s exclusive deal with Microsoft for the Xbox 360. However, the agreement expired in 2010 and Netflix became an app on the device.
The streaming service was founded by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph in August 1997, initially as a DVD mailing service, before launching its website in April 1998 and its streaming platform in 2007. Meanwhile, the PS3 was first released by Sony Computer Entertainment in Japan on November 11, 2006, followed by North America on November 17, 2006, and Europe and Australia on March 23. 2007.
