Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, is facing criticism online after she reportedly had armed security staff remove Atlantic staff writer Elaine Godfrey from her Senate campaign rally on Monday.
Godfrey reported that she was “kicked out” of Crockett’s rallies after being labeled a “number one hater” by Crockett’s team.
On Thursday, “right before armed guards escorted me from the rally and left me on the edge of a Texas county road, I was informed that I was no longer welcome to attend the event I had already attended.”

She said she spent about an hour at a Lubbock rally for Crockett’s Senate campaign when she was joined by other reporters when a woman wearing a badge approached her.
“‘Are you Elaine?’ she asked. I recognized her at the entrance to the event and identified myself as she waved me into the building’s press area. Yes, I replied. ‘Her team asked you to leave,’ she said. When I asked why, the staffer looked at her phone and dutifully read, ‘They just said, ‘Elaine from Atlantic, the white girl in the hat and notepad. She was interviewing people in the crowd. She is a top hater and can spin. She needs to go,” Godfrey wrote.
After Godfrey’s article was published, Crockett told CBS reporter Shawna Mizell on Wednesday that there was “no evidence” that the Atlantic reporter was kicked out of her campaign. She added it was “silly season” and suggested Godfrey had previously been sued for defamation.

In response to the congresswoman’s claim that a “certain reporter” at the event had a “history of dishonesty” and had previously lost a lawsuit against Crockett, the Atlantic reporter wrote: “Maybe she was thinking of someone else, because that’s not what happened to me.”
Social media users were quick to criticize Crockett, questioning her readiness to participate in “Prime Time” following the alleged incident.
“@JasmineForUS’s comments are terrible,” former CNN reporter Chris Cillizza wrote on X. “Not ready for anything like prime time.”
Journalist Zaid Jilani similarly questioned “how on earth” Crockett could “win over enough Texans” if he “can’t get along with reporters at The Atlantic,” many of whom he noted “vote Democratic.”

Another X user wrote: “The entire Crockett team spent amateur night in Texas.”
“Obviously Jasmine Crockett has a problem with criticizing the media,” wrote former Fortress editor Charlie Sykes.
This is not the first controversy caused by Crockett’s reaction to Godfrey’s reports about her.
Godfrey was a staff writer for a July profile of Crockett that reportedly faced backlash from the Texas representative for including comments from fellow House Democrats “without telling her first.”
“She told me, ‘She closed the profile and revoked all permissions,'” Godfrey wrote at the time.
The article remained published and included comments from other Democrats.
Crockett’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
