Towns has 28 points and 11 rebounds, Knicks top Bulls 105-99

CHICAGO (AP) — Karl-Anthony Towns had 28 points and 11 rebounds for his 39th NBA double-double and the New York Knicks extended their winning streak with a 105-99 victory over the slumping Chicago Bulls on Sunday night.

With 3 minutes and 52 seconds left in regular time, Chicago led 95-94 on Matas Buzelis’ three-pointer. Towns scored six points in a row through three-pointers, layups and free throws. Mikal Bridges hit another three-pointer with 27 seconds left, and Jalen Brunson made two free throws.

Brunson had 19 points and nine assists as the New York Bulls lost their ninth straight game, their longest skid since January 2019 when they lost 10 straight games.

Landry Shamet added 16 points for the typically sluggish Knicks, who came back from trailing by 18 in the fourth quarter and shot 44.7 percent to beat Houston 108-106 in New York on Saturday.

Buzelis scored 15 points for Chicago. Jalen Smith scored 12 points before leaving the game in the third quarter with tightness in his right calf, and Isaac Okoro added 12 points. Gershon Yabusele had 11 points and 13 rebounds.

New York went on a 21-10 run in the third quarter to take a 13-point lead and eventually led 83-78 entering the fourth quarter. Chicago led 53-52 at halftime.

The Bulls were playing without injured guards Jaden Ivey and Anfernee Simons, both of whom were acquired at the trade deadline.

Knicks center Mitchell Robinson was out with a left ankle injury.
