There are many stories online about Trump supporters finally seeing the light. Often, it takes them experiencing personal tragedy to abandon long-held views, such as ICE detaining a dying family member or their own government benefits being revoked.

But sometimes the turning point isn’t a life-changing event. For one longtime Trump supporter, it was a comment Trump made about the Epstein dossier. His MAGA breakup announcement, originally posted on Facebook, was posted to the r/LeopardsAteMyFace subreddit, prompting a flood of comments.
Here’s the full text: “I am one of Trump’s biggest supporters. I defend him through every means possible. Media attacks, investigations, prosecutions, non-stop chaos. I stick with him because I believe he is different. I believe he will drain the swamp. I believe he will expose corruption. I believe he will bring down those who harm children. That’s the point. He ran on cleaning house. Exposing elite criminals. Protecting children. I buy it completely.”

(continued) “So when I saw him in person a few days ago talking about the Epstein dossier, I said, ‘It’s time to move on. We have better things to worry about,’ and that’s the moment everything turned around. Moving on? Moving on? Moving on from children being trafficked? Moving on from powerful people who abuse minors? Moving on from being protected by elites? I can’t get away from that.”

(continued) “The more I dig into it, the more it feels like the same pattern. Protecting the powerful. Covering up, shifting focus. If you campaigned on exposing corruption and then refuted the biggest corruption scandal involving minors in modern history, what conclusion should I draw? Either you were involved in it . Or you never said what you said. That’s a betrayal. I’m not a libertarian because their values are more aligned with mine, but I’m done with pretending that either side has the moral high ground.”

(continued) “This is not Republican versus Democratic, not left versus right, not red versus blue, but us versus them. They use race baiting, culture wars, endless cycles of anger to divide us while they protect themselves, grow wealth, and tighten control. Meanwhile, ordinary people fight each other for scraps. I’m not playing this game anymore. Not only has he failed his critics, he’s alienated those who believe in him most.”

(continued) “I know I’m not the only one who saw that moment and felt that shift. So no, I’m not a Republican. I’m not a Democrat. I’m officially nothing. I’ll never vote again. If that’s how the system works, I won’t be a part of it anymore. Your attorney general said if they prosecuted everyone in the file, the system would collapse. Let it collapse, let it burn with all these sick bastards. RIP.”
To really get the “RIP MAGA” message across, the poster also included a photo of their MAGA hats being thrown into the trash.

“I would be more sympathetic if they hadn’t spent the last 10 years ignoring everyone trying desperately to explain this to them,” one person said.
Another wrote, “‘Media attacks, investigations, prosecutions, endless chaos’ all to stop him and try to warn you at every opportunity. But I’m glad you woke up after ten years.”

Others wondered why the man’s rage against Epstein’s victims did not extend to any of the other vulnerable groups Trump harmed, such as women, immigrants, black people and people with disabilities.

One person wrote: “Well, well, they like that our tax dollars go to ICE, basically a modern day Gestapo, used to torture and kill immigrants and even American citizens. The government murdered two innocent American citizens in broad daylight. They are happy with women dying because of abortion bans.”

(continued) “They support racism in ‘anti-DEI’ initiatives, which really just means eradicating and oppressing minorities. But at least it’s not ‘woke,’ right? They cheer aggressive tariffs when the economy, education, and our international relationships are in trouble. They’re happy to undermine health care, even their own health care. ‘No more shots,’ right? Meanwhile, babies and children are suffering from measles outbreaks. They’re ignoring that Trump and his circle of billions got there through blatant corruption.”

(continued) “So, after living through the ashes of a democracy they helped burn, all of a sudden this is where the line is drawn? That’s the one thing we all warned them about, and where do they decide to draw that line? That matters in 2024. By the time they wallow in the ashes with us, it’ll be too late for them to regret it.”

One commenter summed it up more succinctly: “He could have said ‘I’m gullible’ or ‘I lack critical thinking skills,’ but instead he said a lot.”

“Wonder if he has a headache from thinking critically for the first time in a decade,” someone else wrote.
Another added: “If only this idiot would take five minutes to check out Trump’s history of rape and fraud. But they’d probably say it’s a Democratic hoax.”

Finally, someone couldn’t help but point out the tattoo on the man’s arm, which appears to read “Michelle.” They joked: “Judging by his tattoos, he’s a great choice in life.”
We can only hope he doesn’t change his mind about Michelle the way he did Trump…
