An area high school secretary was arrested after police said she had sex with a student.

The Union City Police Department arrested 31-year-old Alicia Hughes following an investigation into allegations of misconduct involving a minor.

According to police, Hughes was an employee of the Randolph East School Corporation in Randolph County, Indiana.
Law enforcement was initially notified of an alleged assault that occurred overnight.
During the investigation, police learned Hughes’ husband spotted her with an 18-year-old student from the Randolph East School Corporation and confronted them.
Hughes was allegedly assaulted during the argument. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the alleged assault.
As the investigation progressed, Union City Police Department investigators discovered evidence that Hughes also had a sexual relationship with another high school student who was 17 years old at the time.
Investigators determined that Hughes had sex with the minor at least five times.
Based on the evidence obtained, Hughes was arrested and charged with five counts of child solicitation for having sexual intercourse with an underage student.
She was transported to the Randolph County Jail, where she is being held on $25,000 cash bail.
The investigation is still ongoing.
