Mario Tennis Fever, Super Mario Galaxy 1+2, Donkey Kong Bananza DLC: Major Announcements at Nintendo Direct

Friday’s Nintendo Direct was packed with announcements and reveals. During the hour-long livestream, Nintendo tagged Super Mario Bros. Three Super Mario games for Switch 2 celebrate their 40th anniversary. The broadcast also featured a slew of third-party announcements, including Hades 2, Resident Evil Requiem, Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade, and more.

Several games already released on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox have confirmed Switch 2 release dates. Major new releases include a Pokemon spin-off, a Mario Tennis game, a new Fire Emblem game and a Yoshi game. Capcom has revealed that it will launch three Resident Evil games on Nintendo Switch 2 next year.

Nintendo also confirmed the official title of the second Super Mario Bros. movie, Super Mario Galaxy The Movie, which will be released in 2026. As part of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. game, the company announced that it will be re-releasing Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Switch and Switch 2. The two-game bundle will be released on October 2, 2025.

Mario Tennis Mania was also revealed during the showcase. This arcade tennis game will be released on Switch 2 on February 12, 2026. Nintendo also confirmed the release date for Metroid 4 Beyond. The game will be available on Switch and Switch 2 later this year, on December 4th. Here are some of the major announcements from Friday’s Nintendo Direct presentation:
