Astro Bot is the upcoming sequel to Astro’s Playroom, announced in May at Sony’s State of Play showcase. Now, gameplay for the PlayStation-exclusive game appears to have been leaked. Over eight minutes of gameplay footage of the 3D platformer has surfaced, showcasing multiple levels, enemy encounters, and traversal mechanics. The gameplay footage is reportedly identical to the demo shown at the Summer Game Festival in June. Astro Bot will be available exclusively on PS5 on September 6th.
Space Robot Gameplay
According to VGC, the off-screen footage of the Astro Bot game was captured by A9VG at the ChinaJoy Digital Entertainment Expo in Shanghai.
The video was recorded off-screen and shows over eight minutes of gameplay with Astro Bot, detailing platform mechanics and Astro’s in-game abilities. The footage also shows the titular robot having an encounter with a giant octopus boss, reminiscent of the boss fights in Super Mario Odyssey, as well as the different levels in which Astro takes a plane to the galaxy.
Astro Bot is the sequel to Astro’s Playroom, a free platform game that comes pre-installed with every PS5 and serves as a handy demonstration of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggering capabilities.
The sequel, developed by the Asobi team, will be a space adventure platformer with a broader scope than Astro’s Playroom. Astro Bot will let players explore 6 galaxies and over 80 levels and hunt down Astro’s crew.
The game will feature diverse environments and Astro’s new powers to help him defeat new enemies and giant bosses. Astro Bot will also be equipped with DualSense controller functionality for a more immersive experience.
Astro Bot is a PS5 exclusive game that will launch on September 6 and is now available for pre-order. The sequel to Astro’s Playroom will not be a free-to-play game, the standard version of the game will cost Rs. 3,999.
