Jimmy Butler drops 32 points to lead Warriors past Knicks, 126-113

After a wire-to-wire victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday, the Golden State Warriors are off to a different start against the New York Knicks on Thursday.

In the first 3 minutes of the game, the Warriors fell behind by 10 points. The Warriors got off to a quiet start, but the Knicks took advantage and extended their lead to 14 points.

After a lackluster performance early in the first quarter, the Warriors started to wake up. Before the start of the second quarter, the Warriors reduced the Knicks’ advantage to only 5 points. In the first quarter, Moses Moody scored nine points on a perfect 3-pointer from beyond the arc.

Moody performed well in the first half and hit another three-pointer in the second quarter. Brandin Podemski scored 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting in the second quarter, and the Warriors regained the lead 62-59 before halftime.

In the second half, the Warriors once widened the gap and their lead reached 17 points. However, the Knicks eventually held on, cutting Golden State’s advantage to single digits in the fourth quarter.

In the final game, Butler and Podemski each scored 9 points to prevent the Knicks from winning 126-113 on Thursday night and finally reversed the Knicks.

Butler performed well for the Warriors, scoring a game-high 32 points on 14-of-22 shooting, and had 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Thursday was Butler’s fifth game this season in which he scored 30 or more points.

After a quiet scoring night against the Trail Blazers, Stephen Curry scored 27 points on 10-for-17 shooting, four three-pointers, plus seven assists and three rebounds.

Moody scored 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting and hit 7 three-pointers. In Thursday night’s game against the Knicks, Podzimski came off the bench for 26 minutes and scored 19 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals on 8-of-9 shooting.

After defeating the Knicks, the Warriors improved to 4-1 in eight games at home. The Warriors will face the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday at Chase Center.
