Kristen Pierce-Sherrod, Harold’s Chicken CEO and daughter of restaurant founder Harold Pierce, has died, her family has announced.

News of Pierce-Sherrod’s death was shared in a since-deleted statement posted on Instagram on behalf of Harold’s Chicken Corporate and the Chicago Children’s Equestrian Center, an organization close to Pierce-Sherrod.

“On behalf of Harold’s Chicken Corporate and the Chicago Children’s Equestrian Center, we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our CEO, Kristen D. Pierce-Sherrod,” the statement read, according to CBS News. “The family expresses our sincere gratitude for everyone’s prayers and condolences. At this time, we ask that they respect their privacy during this time of loss.”

No further details were provided about the date or cause of Pierce-Sherrod’s death. Her family said funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Harold’s Chicken was contacted for comment.

Pierce-Sherrod leads Harold’s Chicken, one of Chicago’s best-known and beloved food institutions, continuing the legacy her parents started more than seventy years ago. The restaurant was founded in 1950 by Harold Pierce and his wife, Hilda Pierce, in a small neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side, according to the company’s website.
