Texas A&M SS ranked No. 16 in Perfect Game USA’s Top 100 Freshmen

Texas A&M’s freshman shortstop has earned national recognition ahead of his first season playing for the Aggies in Bryan-College Station, Texas.

Nicholas Partida, who withdrew from the MLB Draft this season and committed to Texas A&M, is ranked No. 16 on Perfect Game USA’s 2026 College Baseball Top 100 prospects. The elite infielder was the 144th overall pick and the 18th shortstop (40th overall pick) in the same class.

With former Aggie shortstop Kaeden Kent (selected 103rd overall in the third round of the 2025 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees) gone, Partida could become the starter before Opening Day arrives on February 13.

While his primary position may be shortstop for the Aggies this year, Partida also has plenty of experience on the mound. According to Perfect Game, the Manville, Texas, native reached speeds of 97 mph on three pitches at Pearland High School. He impressed many scouts with his talented arm and rushing speed, but his flashy and fluid infield play was equally impressive.

Partida possesses plenty of bat speed and showed continued improvement in his various performances, including the Perfect Game All-American Classic.

Earley gets a gem with Partida, who has all the tools needed to be a star contributor this season for the Maroon and White as the Aggies look to put last year’s woes behind them and start fresh in 2026.
