Arizona football lands commitment from ex-Arkansas State long snapper Drew Nicolson

The NCAA transfer portal played a huge role in rebuilding Arizona’s roster last season, and it paid off with a 9-4 record and a holiday trip. The portal will once again be where the Wildcats look to fill immediate needs.

On Monday night, the UA released its first portal pick of 2026, filling a critical hole on special teams.

Former Arkansas Long Snapper Drew Nicholson Committed to Arizona. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Nicholson, who is from Tempe, spent two years at Arkansas after starting his career in Akron. As a redshirt sophomore in 2025, he hauled in 124 punts for the Red Wolves, led the team in PATs and led a 7-6 win over Missouri State in the Xbox Bowl.

Arkansas has allowed 21 field goals in 27 games with Nicholson.

Arizona has an opening for a flutist, graduates Avery Salerno. He will compete with 2025 signees Broden Morenwho is redshirting this season.
