Packers Snap Counts: Week 18

Welcome to the most confusing snap count breakdown of the season. With 17 players on injured reserve unable to report due to medical reasons, three players out with injuries, four starters healthy, and two players out of Sunday’s game due to injuries, this week’s numbers were reversed as the Green Bay Packers tried to get as many opportunities into play as possible.

In fact, based on the Packers’ performance in Week 18, the more snaps a player receives against the Minnesota Vikings, the further down the depth chart that player will be. With that out of the way, let’s take a look at what happened in the season finale.

quarterback

  • Malik Willis (inactive – shoulder/hamstring)

The Packers will be on the NFL draft market looking for a quarterback (I’m not counting teams that used fourth-round picks as early as that position). Clayton Thune made his second career start in the NFL and first with Green Bay on Sunday.

When including Thune’s four sacks (41 yards), his passing yardage on the night was -7. In his NFL career, he is currently completing 21 of 38 passes (55%) for 112 yards (2.9 yards per carry), no touchdowns, three interceptions, and 12 sacks for 85 yards. His net passing yards per attempt was 0.7, not including his interceptions.

Head coach Matt LaFleur said after the game that Jordan Love, who had to come off the bench in this game due to Malik Willis’ injury, had the ball handed to him on every play and he was forced into the game.

run back

  • 27: Emmanuel Wilson (4 SPT)

  • Josh Jacobs (inactive – healthy scratch)

The Packers only fielded two running backs in this game, even though the team ran the ball 70 percent of the time in this game — despite trailing on the scoreboard for more than 50 minutes.

receiver

  • 47: Jacoby Keeney-James (9 SPT)

  • Dontayvion Wicks (inactive – concussion)

Rookie first-round pick Matthew Golden only had 8 receiving yards in the game, but he was on the field for every possession against the Vikings. His former college quarterback, Tune, just couldn’t throw him the ball.

The leading receiver in the game was Jacoby Keeney-James from the practice squad, who had two catches for 15 yards. He also handled kickoff and kick return duties with varying degrees of success. Keene James allowed several punts to land and roll. He also kneeled down for a 20-yard kickoff when his feet were outside the goal line. He did have one catch for 26 yards, though.

Jaden Reed missed the entire first half until cornerback/receiver Beau Melton went down with a knee injury. This forced Reed to take action. Melton was never officially ruled out by the team, only listed as a possible return player.

tight end

With limited bodies elsewhere, the Packers actually had to use their tight ends on special teams in this game, something they really haven’t done in 2025. While Josh Wile and Luke Musgrave have typically split defense in recent weeks, the fact that the team is trying to keep Musgrave in the bubble hints at the team’s priorities.

offensive line

  • 50: Lt. Jordan Morgan (1 SPT)

  • 50: RG Anthony Belton (1 SPT)

  • 50: RT Darian Kinnard (1 SPT)

  • 0: Rasheed Walker (1 SPT)

  • Zach Tom (inactive – knee/back)

The Packers used their preferred field goal protection on the final play of the game so the team could avoid getting shutout. Beyond that, the offensive line featured Jordan Morgan, Lecitus Smith, Jacob Monk, Anthony Belton and Darian Kinnard (left to right) throughout the night. Morgan starts at right tackle with Zach Tom out with an injury and Belton in his usual spot at right guard, which will have to go on offense due to Green Bay’s lineup situation.

defensive end

  • 51: Balin Sorrell (9 SPT)

  • 42: Brenton Cox Jr. (9 SPT)

  • 30: Colin Oliver (10 SPT)

  • 0: Kingsley Enagbal (8 SPT)

With the exception of Kingsley Enagbare, who played some special teams games, the Packers kept their top three defensive ends for this game. Barryn Sorrell, Brenton Cox Jr. and Collin Oliver played nearly all snaps at the position (123 of 136). Sorrell and Oliver were both healthy heading into Week 17’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, but Sorrell was outstanding on Sunday.

defensive tackle

  • 44: Warren Brinson (4 SPT)

  • 42: Nazir Stackhouse (4 SPT)

Against the Vikings, it was Warren Brinson, Nassir Stackhouse and Jonathan Ford who played most of the time at defensive tackle. Carl Brooks’ only steal was a shot protection on the final play of the game. Ford just received a waiver this week.

defender

  • 64: Jamon Johnson (14 SPT)

  • 64: Tyronn Hopper (18 SPT)

  • 25: Isaiah McDuffie (12 SPT)

  • Quay Walker (Inactive – Healthy Scratch)

  • Edgerrin Cooper (inactive – healthy scratch)

Ty’Ron Hopper started at middle linebacker on Sunday as the team tried to limit Isaiah McDuffie’s offense. The Packers only field three linebackers in this game, so it will be interesting to see who they move into the box (probably a safety) if someone goes down. Thankfully, there were no injuries at the location.

cornerback

  • 59: Jaylin Simpson (9 SPT)

  • 32: Shemar Bartholomew (11 SPT)

  • 0: Carrington Valentine (1 SPT)

After the game, head coach Matt LaFleur verbally agreed with the idea of Trevon Diggs starting in the wild-card round, but I’m not sure I believe it. The Packers went out of their way to play six snaps with Keeson Nixon and Carrington Valentine, while starters Javon Bloods and Evan Williams played 48 snaps elsewhere in the secondary.

I had to see it to believe it. I’m assuming Nixon and Valentine start next week and Diggs is the next guy up.

Safety

  • 63: Ketan Oladapo (22 SPT)

  • 63: Jonathan Baldwin (14 SPT)

  • 19: Evan Williams (8 SPT)

  • Xavier McKinney (inactive – healthy scratch)

With Xavier McKinney returning from injury, both Javon Bullard and Evan Williams will have to defend today, as all remaining nickels on the Packers roster (Bullard and Ketan Oladapo) are safeties. This is what hurts most about Zayne Anderson’s spot on injured reserve.

Brad eventually went down with a knee injury, but both LaFleur and Brad said he was fine.
