Fourteen NFL teams are looking ahead to the playoffs, but for others, the offseason is already here.

The coaching carousel will heat up first, before free agency and the draft take center stage. Just don’t expect it to be as busy as 2024 or 2025.
While the Tennessee Titans and New York Giants have both made midseason coaching changes, the combination of active active cycles over the past two years and a late-season surge for some teams with coaches on the hot seat could make the coaching front even quieter than usual this January.
But that doesn’t mean nothing will happen. The status of some coaches is still up in the air heading into Week 18, which isn’t surprising going into the NFL offseason.
Here’s what you need to know about every coach who might be in trouble.

2025-2026 NFL coaches fired
Brian Daboll, Giants
date: November 10
The Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll on Nov. 10 after losing another lead to the Chicago Bears a day earlier. New York gained momentum and even beat the Eagles in prime time in September after Russell Wilson was benched for Jaxson Dart, but the Giants have tended to blow leads this season, including a 19-point blowout against the Denver Broncos. Daboll compiled a 20-40-1 record in less than four seasons in New York.
Brian Callahan, Titans
date: October 13
The Titans fired head coach Brian Callahan midway through his second season after a dismal 1-5 start and an offense that ranked among the best in the NFL. Tennessee declined to make Callahan a one-and-done coach in 2024, bringing him back after a 3-14 season and giving him a chance to develop No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward, but the Titans showed little improvement through the first six games of the season before Mike McCoy replaced Callahan on an interim basis. Callahan appeared in 23 games in Nashville and posted a 4-19 record.

NFL coaches in trouble
Pete Carroll, Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll is at risk of accomplishing nothing in Las Vegas, according to multiple reports. “We’ll see if Pete Carroll is going to be there. I doubt it, but we’ll see,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said when discussing the Raiders’ 2026 draft prospects. He reiterated other reports that the organization may be looking to clean up as a disastrous season comes to an end.
If the Raiders make a change, they will be looking for their 13th full-time head coach in the past 25 years.
Kevin Stefanski, Browns
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski’s future has been the subject of much speculation, but reports have yet to clarify whether he is more likely to stay or leave. The two-time Coach of the Year is coming off an ugly season in 2024 and is no closer to contention in 2025, though the Browns entered the year with low expectations and no clear answer at quarterback. Stefanski hopes a tough win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 17 will be enough to keep him in Cleveland for a seventh season.

Jonathan Gannon, Cardinals
After four wins in 2024, the Arizona Cardinals were hoping to make a playoff leap in 2025. However, they collapsed after a 2-0 start, losing 13 of their next 14 games and losing five games by 20 points or more since November. While it seems almost certain that the Cardinals’ big change could be Kyler Murray’s departure, Arizona may have a hard time justifying Gannon’s return for a fourth season.
Mike Tomlin, Steelers
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has never had a losing season in nearly two decades in Pittsburgh, but 2025 will look a lot like 2024 whether they win the division title or not. The Steelers faded after a hot early start and suffered several unexpected losses, including a loss to the Browns in Week 17 when they had a chance to clinch the AFC North. If the Steelers don’t win the division, it would mean they’re one game shy of 2024 before adding Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey and others. This doesn’t necessarily mean the Steelers will fire Tomlin, but it could open the door for both parties to part ways, depending on what Tomlin wants.

John Harbaugh, Ravens
On the other side of the Steelers’ rivalry with the Ravens is John Harbaugh, who has been playing against Tomlin for 18 years. Although Lamar Jackson’s injury played a major role, the Ravens have been disappointed with their season. Baltimore enters Week 17 below .500 and on the verge of elimination, although the AFC North title is still in contention. After so much success in 2023 and 2024 with Jackson healthy, the Ravens’ most likely path is to do their best to reshape the roster in 2026, but if frustrations mount, Harbaugh’s job status could be in question.
Raheem Morris, Falcons
Despite entering the season with realistic playoff hopes, the Atlanta Falcons appear to be on the verge of change after going 4-9. Will three straight wins be enough to keep Raheem Morris’ job? On one hand, the Falcons proved that Morris can maintain the team’s focus and effort even after being sidelined. On the other hand, the late-season performance was a reminder of situations where the NFC South could have won and raised questions about why Morris was unable to produce against divisional opponents.

Todd Bowles, Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ season-ending loss has some wondering if head coach Todd Bowles is in trouble. He’s unlikely to be fired, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. “They’ve won three straight division titles and could still win a fourth. Does that sound like a guy who should be in trouble? I’d say certainly not,” Rapoport said. If the Buccaneers miss the playoffs, though, it may be difficult for the organization to ignore questions about the fourth-year coach’s status.
Zac Taylor, Bengals
It would be easy to blame the Cincinnati Bengals’ failure in 2025 on Joe Burrow’s injury, but the team still lost winnable games with or without their star, losing to the New York Jets without Burrow and being shut out by the Ravens with him. Still, reports indicate it’s unlikely to cost Zac Taylor his job, and back-to-back blowout wins heading into Week 18 suggest the typically loyal Bengals will remain with their head coach for a seventh season and hope Burrow stays healthy in 2026.

Aaron Glenn, Jets
Set-and-forget head coaches have become more common in the NFL over the past decade, so as the New York Jets limped toward the finish line, fan speculation began to heat up about Aaron Glenn’s job status. While New York doesn’t have much talent on the field, with Garrett Wilson and two quarterbacks injured, plus two key defensive players traded, Greengang has struggled to find tangible improvement. Glenn is not expected to lose his job. Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer declared that “he’s going to be safe” when discussing Glenn’s status in Week 17, and owner Woody Johnson, for all his shortcomings, is reportedly not too unstable for the coach.
