MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has canceled its “alert” alert for Donnell Roberts, who has died, his family told WREG.
Police canceled a BOLO alert on Friday after deputies said they found a white 2017 Nissan Altima that matched the description of the same vehicle 26-year-old Donnell Roberts was driving the night he disappeared.

On Tuesday, December 30, WREG crews located a white Nissan Altima behind Winridge Elementary School in Hickory Hill, where police discovered the body of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Memphis police confirmed a death investigation at the scene but did not confirm a connection to the missing persons report.
WREG has reached out to MPD again, but so far, they have not responded.
In addition to SCSO’s announcement that the search was called off, WREG contacted Robert’s mother on Friday morning and she said her son was dead.
Roberts, who has not been seen since Dec. 22, is a county employee, according to Shelby County Circuit Court Clerk Jamita Swearengen. Swearengen issued the following statement:
Our beloved Donal Roberts has passed away and we are devastated beyond words! Donnell Roberts started working in the Shelby County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office in 2019 as a 19-year-old under the direction of Judge Jerry Stokes. Roberts grew exponentially under the guidance of Judge Stokes until his retirement in 2022 and continues to experience incredible growth under Judge Cedric Wooten. Although he is the youngest in the department, he is very reliable and consistent with his work and others. Mr. Donnell Roberts is a bright, intelligent young man who learns quickly and pays great attention to detail. We will all truly miss his silent smile and always being the first to grab two donuts at work. Words can never express the love and care we have for Donner. He has gone too fast! His impact on everyone around him was different but significant. We will always remember Donnell as a wonderful father, son, grandson, brother, friend, colleague, and most importantly, a young man who was loved by all. We miss and love you, Donnell!
