Green Bay Packers star Micah Parsons has some extra time after suffering a torn ACL in December. As his team prepares for the playoffs, Parsons is staying at home recovering from surgery, which means he has more time to scroll through social media.
Parsons was apparently doing just that on Thursday when he stumbled across a post about his former team that forced him to respond.

The original post showed a photo of the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator, who told Cowboys media on Thursday that the Parsons trade “changed” the way the team’s defense operates. Parsons responded to the tweet with multiple “laughing” emojis.
Then he went one step further. After apparently receiving some hate in the comments, Parsons defended his actions, saying he felt slandered by Jerry Jones for “months.”
Parsons may have been referencing a series of comments Jones made before trading the superstar to the Packers. There hasn’t been much fighting between the two since that trade. In the weeks since the trade was completed, the pass rusher said he had heard nothing from Jones about the trade. Since then, both sides have been fairly quiet, although Jones did wish Parsons well following his season-ending loss.

But Parsons’ tweet reopened that wound and made it clear that the pass rusher still has some feelings about the deal. He did this for several reasons. While Parsons is currently injured, the change of scenery has proven to be beneficial for both him and the Packers. Parsons got paid and then put up great numbers when healthy. Despite losing Parsons, the Packers still managed to secure an NFC playoff spot.
The same cannot be said for the Cowboys. Despite adding Eberflus as defensive coordinator, the team ranks last in points allowed per game in 2025. That’s not a huge drop from last season, when the Cowboys ranked 31st in the same category, but it’s no consolation.
However, as last season showed, Parsons’ presence in 2025 may not give the Cowboys much of a lift. The team’s defense was terrible under him last year. While things are worse in 2025, it’s unclear how much he can single-handedly move Dallas’ defense to a better level.

Without Parsons, the Cowboys will improve their winning percentage in 2025, even though the team has been eliminated from the playoffs. It will look to use the draft picks acquired in the Parsons trade to reload for the 2026 NFL season.
Despite the injury, Parsons still has a chance to win a ring this season. If the Packers can’t pull that off, there’s a good chance the team could bring Parsons back early next season to try and compete for another Super Bowl title.
While the trade was obviously painful for Parsons, he’s in a better place now. The Packers look like perennial All-Pro contenders. At the same time, the Cowboys look like a team with multiple holes to fill if they want to compete next year.
