Patients in Green Bay, Appleton got new options in 2025, with more on the way

Another hospital will be coming to the Green Bay area in the new year, but overall health care in the area is still growing, with several large clinics recently expanding or opening new medical centers.

Hospital Sisters Health System will break ground in 2026 on a new bed tower for a major $270 million expansion project at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center. While the St. Mary’s expansion is expected to end in 2028, other health systems have announced care expansions that will open in late 2025 or are expected to begin next year.

Below is a timeline of four new services that have recently launched in Green Bay or the Fox Valley or will launch in the region in 2026.

Howard Rehabilitation Hospital

A rehabilitation care hospital in Howard is scheduled to open in the fall of 2026. Lifepoint Health is building Howard Rehabilitation Hospital in the 100 block of South Taylor Street. The inpatient hospital will have 40 beds and provide recovery and rehabilitative care for stroke, traumatic brain injury, neurological disorders and other injuries and illnesses.

Lifepoint and UW Health operate similar rehabilitation hospitals in Oak Creek and Fitchburg.

On Dec. 1, Lifepoint Health posted a job opening for a chief executive officer to oversee Howard’s hospitals.

Green Bay Student Walk-In Mental Health Clinic

The Children’s Center of Wisconsin opened a walk-in clinic in September for students seeking help. The Green Bay Mental Health Walk-in Clinic is located at the Emplify Health Behavioral Health Clinic, 301 E. Joseph St.

Children ages 5 to 18 can walk in without a parent or make an appointment to speak with a mental health therapist. The clinic is always staffed by therapists and clinical assistants, and is staffed by a social worker.

Students receive treatment sessions, safety assessments and connections to future resources. The walk-in clinic is similar to other Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin clinics in Milwaukee and Kenosha. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from noon to 6:30 p.m.

Appleton Children’s Wisconsin Pediatric Urgent Care

On Oct. 13, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin opened a new pediatric urgent care center at its Appleton clinic. If children don’t need urgent care but their primary care doctor’s office is closed, they can get urgent care. The department has one treatment room, two triage rooms and six examination rooms.

If a child has a more serious illness or injury, the family must go to the emergency room. Children’s Hospital Urgent Care does not offer physical exams or vaccines.

Urgent Care is open Monday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 2575 E. Evergreen Drive, Appleton.

Prevea’s new orthopedic walk-in clinic in Green Bay

Prevea Health opened a new orthopedic walk-in injury clinic in August at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center (1726 Shawano Ave.).

No appointment required. The clinic provides imaging, support and follow-up care for sports injuries, strains, joint pain or other injuries. The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm.
