La Liga midfielder discusses the possibility of returning to Real Madrid: ‘Never thought about it’

Antonio Blanco joined the Real Madrid youth academy in 2016. The midfielder went through all the training at youth level before arriving at Castilla and making his debut in the first team under Zidane in 2021.

However, he failed to fully establish himself in the first team and was first loaned to Cadiz. He later moved to Deportivo Alaves, initially on loan and then permanently, where he is now a regular player.

Blanc reflects on Real Madrid

during an interview Deportivo Stadium (h/t AS ), the midfielder has spoken about the possibility of a return to Real Madrid, where he has made just six appearances.

“To be honest, I never thought about it. I think a few years went by and I didn’t think about going back. I was there, I had the opportunity, and I thought I did a good job,” he said.

“Now I’m at another stage in my career where I feel really good, really comfortable. Ultimately, you never know what the future will bring, but I think I have to do a good job every weekend and we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Blanco also reflected on how difficult it is for academy players to break into Real Madrid’s first team.

“We always knew there were good players. Valdepenas had a chance the other day, but the situation has to fit. The full-backs are injured and the coach has to play you too.”

“But as I always say, there are very good players in the academy. For example, we also have Jussi, who came from the academy and is a left-back with great potential.”

“The constant emergence of young players with potential is very important and very good for the club.”

Regarding his future and the possibility of renewing his contract with Alaves, he said: “Everything is the same now. I still have this year, one more year left. I’m happy to be here and, as I always say, I hope to stay for many more years.”

“I feel very appreciated by the club, the fans and my teammates. I feel very valued.”
