The Hawaii football team continues to prepare for its Dec. 24 showdown with ACC rival Cal at the Sheraton Bowl in Hawaii, but for a Power Five program like Hawaii, the background noise of the transfer portal is ever-present. Star receiver Jackson Harris has left the team and headed to the transfer portal, and while others may be leaving as well, fans are awaiting the status of one player in particular: star quarterback Micah Alejado.
Hawaii fans, rejoice. Alejado is set to return to Hawaii, The Washington Post’s Stephen Tsai first reported honolulu star-advertiser. Alejado later publicly confirmed the news in a post on X.

Alejado, the Mountain West Freshman of the Year, entered the Hawaii Bowl completing nearly 66 percent of his passes for 2,832 yards, 21 touchdown passes and nine interceptions. While Hawaii may not be a NIL powerhouse, Alejado’s retention certainly shows that Hawaii is starting to grow in this area. Just a redshirt sophomore next season, this could be the dawn of something special at Hawaii.
Days after UNLV star quarterback Anthony Colandrea announced he would return to the program, Alejado reaffirmed his commitment to Hawaii, setting the stage for an exciting 2026 Mountain West title run.
