Chelsea drawn against Charlton Athletic in FA Cup third round

Championship rivals Chelsea await in the FA Cup third round on the second weekend of the New Year (weekend of January 10), with the Blues taking on Charlton Athletic in our first game of the year’s oldest knockout round in football. The draw took place last night and our good friend Joe Cole helped with the ball selection.

Although the game will be played away from home, Charlton, who were promoted from League One via the playoffs last year, are one of the weaker teams in League Two and currently sit in 17th place, having lost four games in a row and conceding 12 times in the process. We should be able to rest and rotate and still move forward smoothly (“should”).

The Addicks have been in the top flight for almost 20 years and in fact we haven’t played them since they were relegated in 2007.
