PNW atmospheric river arrives; flood watches, warnings in effect, what to know

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An atmospheric river is pummeling the Pacific Northwest starting Monday, bringing nonstop rain and gusty winds that have left the region facing potential flooding and power outages.

By the time the storm ends Wednesday night, up to 5 inches of rain could fall in the Willamette Valley and up to 7 inches on the Oregon Coast. According to the KOIN 6 Weather Team.

river flood warning The measures are in effect in several counties, including parts of Multnomah, Tillamook and Clackamas counties. Flood warnings are in effect for the central Oregon coast and Oregon Coast Range, Clatsop County, the Portland metropolitan area, the central Columbia River Gorge, the Cascade foothills of Marion and Linn counties, and the lowlands of Benton County.
